From November 5 to 12, ITC had the honor of participating in the Fertigation Course held at the Tàrrega Agricultural School, as part of the Annual Agricultural Training Plan of the Catalan Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food. This course, designed for irrigation technicians and agricultural producers, focused on the importance of implementing advanced technologies to improve crop efficiency and quality.

Representing ITC, Xavier Martínez shared his expertise on installation and equipment needed for effective fertigation, covering topics such as system sizing, essential features, and maintenance, along with the latest fertigation technologies. His presentation provided attendees with a practical view on optimizing these systems to maximize yield and ensure balanced crop nutrition.

The course also featured other leading experts in plant nutrition and woody crop fertigation, such as Miquel Pascual from the University of Lleida and Josep Rufat from IRTA. Attendees delved into key fertigation concepts through practical case studies, illustrating how to determine the specific nutritional needs of different crops and accurately size fertigation equipment.

Beyond technical knowledge, the course emphasized the importance of cutting-edge fertigation technology, especially in woody crops. Advances in control systems allow for precise nutritional strategies tailored to soil characteristics and plant behavior, contributing not only to crop quantity but also to agricultural quality. Adopting these technologies helps maintain soil fertility and productivity, which are essential for sustainable agriculture.

The participatory dynamics of the course, engaging both in-person and remote attendees, allowed for a valuable exchange of experiences and diverse goals within the agricultural irrigation sector. Through this training experience, ITC remains committed to knowledge-sharing and the development of technologies that support producers and sector technicians in their journey toward more efficient, high-quality agriculture.
