Aquaespaña spoke with Xavier Corbella, CEO of ITC, on the occasion of the company’s 30th anniversary.

ITC S.L. celebrates 30 years of activity this year. Before commenting on the journey you have made and your vision for the future, tell us about your company’s current activities (products / services you offer)?

“ITC, headquartered in Barcelona, stands as a prominent designer, manufacturer, and marketer of metering pumps and complementary equipment. Our products cater to diverse sectors such as agriculture, water treatment, and industrial applications, and we have earned a robust reputation for our commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

ITC’s core objective is to facilitate the accurate dosing of chemicals through technological innovation and customer-focused service.

What is the origin of the company?

The history of ITC is a testament to perseverance and dedication throughout its journey. Although the company in its current form celebrates its 30th anniversary, it’s important to highlight that ITC originated nearly four decades ago.

ITC’s early steps trace back to a group of friends who shared a common vision and commitment. Together, they embarked on collaborative efforts that, over time, laid the groundwork for what would become a leading company.

Over 30 years, the company has maintained steady and sustained growth, contributing cutting-edge technology to the market.

“This initiative not only showcased ITC’s ability to adapt and compete in a global environment but also strengthened its position as a major player in the metering pumps industry. “

If you had to highlight a particularly significant moment in these 30 years of business life, what would it be?

In 1994, ITC achieved a significant milestone in its history by expanding globally. Its focus on exports and understanding of the worldwide market led to the opening of its first overseas branch.

The establishment of Injection Technical Control Inc. in Miami is a testament to ITC’s vision and ambition. This U.S. branch provided a strategic presence in a key market, enabling ITC to get closer to customers and business partners in the North American region.

This initiative not only showcased ITC’s ability to adapt and compete in a global environment but also strengthened its position as a major player in the metering pumps industry. The opening of the U.S. branch paved the way for further international expansion and success.

What do you consider to have been the most important elements that explain these 30 years of business life?

There are three facts that have enabled ITC’s continued success over three decades. The first was its focus on exporting and understanding the global market in the 1990s. Exporting was essential to the growth and diversification of ITC’s operations, allowing it to access new markets, expand its geographic reach and diversify its customer base.

The determination to embrace technological innovations and develop effective solutions has been crucial, highlighting the innovative spirit in the sector.

Finally, the company has fostered a collaborative culture with its stakeholders, including customers, distributors and suppliers along with its entire team. This ongoing collaboration has strengthened long-term relationships and contributed to sustained growth.

“El futuro de los sectores del tratamiento de aguas y agricultura se encamina hacia una evolución necesaria, especialmente en respuesta a los desafíos derivados de la escasez de agua.”

How do you see your company in 5 years’ time?

The future of the water treatment and agriculture sectors is heading towards a necessary evolution, especially in response to the challenges arising from water scarcity. Efficient management of water resources becomes a critical priority to ensure sustainability and productivity in these sectors.

In the field of irrigation, the precise and efficient delivery of nutrients to plants becomes essential. This precision not only optimises the use of resources such as water and fertilisers, but also improves crop yields and reduces environmental impact. ITC, with its expertise in metering pumps and controllers, is strategically positioned to lead in this space, offering advanced irrigation solutions.

The company’s recent addition to the strong Verder Group further strengthens its position. Collaborating with a successful business group gives ITC the opportunity to access more resources, technology and global reach.
